Meet Our Team

Dr. Doug Huitt attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he double majored in Chemistry and Biology. After attending dental school at the UNC School of Dentistry, he started this dental practice in Shelby on September 15th, 1982. He is married to his wife Treasa and is blessed to have five adult children and their spouses along with eighteen grandchildren. Aside from dentistry, Dr. Huitt is a Biblical studies enthusiast, an avid exerciser and enjoys playing golf and enjoying time with his grandchildren. After having been in practice for over thirty years, Dr. Huitt says his favorite aspect of dentistry would have to be the relationships he has built with the patients and their families while caring for their dental needs throughout many seasons of life.

Dr. Matt Borders was born and raised in Shelby, North Carolina. He is a 1999 graduate of Shelby High; he then graduated from Wofford College in 2003 with his Bachelor of Science in Biology degree. He attended dental school at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 2007. He returned to Shelby in 2007 and has been practicing at Huitt and Borders Family Dentistry ever since. Dr. Borders loves providing excellent patient care to his pediatric and adult patients. He has been married to his wife, Lauren, and has three children. Dr. Borders is an active member of his church and enjoys gardening in his spare time and spending time with his family.
